Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup White Jasmine Tandoori Gouda, shredded
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, plus a little extra for cooking
- 1½ cups warm water, added gradually as needed
Instructions
Prepare the dough. In a large bowl, combine the flour and kosher salt. Gradually add the warm water, a little at a time, mixing as you go until a soft, workable dough forms. You may not need all the water, so add it gradually to maintain the right consistency.
- Divide the dough. Take a golf-ball-sized portion of dough and roll it into a ball. Repeat with the remaining dough.
- Roll and fill. On a lightly floured surface, roll one dough ball into a circle. Place a portion of shredded White Jasmine Tandoori Gouda in the center.
- Seal the flatbread. Fold the edges of the dough over the cheese to form a square packet. Pinch the edges together to seal the filling inside.
- Roll into a square. Gently roll the stuffed packet into a square, taking care not to let the cheese break through the dough.
- Cook the flatbread. Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Place the flatbread in the warm pan and cook until the underside is lightly golden brown.
- Add the oil. Flip the flatbread and drizzle a little vegetable oil over the cooked side. Turn it over again and drizzle a little more oil on the other side.
- Cook until golden. Continue cooking, turning as needed, until both sides are golden brown and the edges are cooked through. Repeat with the remaining dough and cheese.
- Serve warm. Remove from the pan and serve immediately while the Tandoori Gouda is warm and melty.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve with mint chutney or your favorite dipping sauce.
- Pair with a bowl of lentil soup or curry.
- Cut into smaller squares for a flavorful appetizer or party snack.
