A simple, delicious appetizer or dessert featuring crisp flatbread, creamy cream cheese, fresh apples, and a sweet-and-spicy drizzle of hot honey.
Ingredients
- 2 Ruby apples, thinly sliced
- 1 block cream cheese, softened
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 flatbreads
- Hot honey, for drizzling
Optional: Caramel sauce or chocolate sauce may be substituted for the hot honey.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Prepare the flatbread: Brush or spread the olive oil evenly over both flatbreads.
- Crisp the flatbread: Place the flatbreads in the oven and bake for 7–8 minutes, until slightly crisp but not browned.
- Cool: Remove the flatbreads from the oven and allow them to cool.
- Add the cream cheese: Spread the softened cream cheese evenly over each flatbread, spreading all the way to the edges.
- Add the apples: Arrange the thinly sliced apples evenly over the cream cheese.
- Drizzle: Drizzle hot honey over the apples. For a sweeter variation, substitute caramel sauce or chocolate sauce.
- Cut and serve: Cut each flatbread into squares and serve warm or cold.
