Recipes from Everyday Cooking Basmati Rice with Orange Peppers, Green Onions and Cilantro 2 cups uncooked Basmati rice, rinsed1 tablespoon cooking oil 2 cloves 1 large cardamom 1 4 inch cinnamon stick 2 bay leaves 1 orange pepper, chopped ¼ teaspoon turmeric ¼ teaspoon salt ½ cup cilantro, chopped 1 cup green onions, chopped 3 cups warm water Wash rice gently and set aside. Heat oil in a pan, add whole spices. Add orange pepper, green onions and cilantro. Add rice and warm water. Add salt and turmeric. Let it come to a boil and then reduce heat and leave to simmer for 15-20 minutes. Serve with any entree.
